Is Shimano or Daiwa known for having smoother reel performance out of the box?

Shimano is often praised for exceptionally refined gearing and nearly frictionless start-up on many models, while Daiwa has a reputation for ultra-smooth retrieval as well, particularly with its Magsealed and high-end bearings. The choice between them often comes down to personal preference and specific model features—serious anglers tend to debate the nuances, but both brands are respected for smoothness.
